What is POST?
The POST Partnership involves the collaboration of Guilford County Schools and UNC-Greensboro to provide Guilford County middle school science teachers with relevant professional development opportunities in both content and pedagogy, with a focus on increasing student achievement. Over the course of this three year project, we will gather valuable data on the impact of inquiry-based instruction on student achievement.
Cohort I consists of eighteen teachers from eleven middle schools who serve as POST Team Leaders. POST Team Leaders participate in summer courses in physical science, biology, and earth science, and in quarterly academies during the school year. They serve as leaders to develop professional learning communities within their schools, with support from the GCS Project Coordinator, their administrator, and professors from UNCG. Course work began in June of 2007.
Cohort I Team Leaders
Cohort II POST Team Leaders will be chosen in the fall of 2007, and will be comprised of teachers, one from each grade level, from the remaining middle schools. Cohort II will begin their summer courses in June of 2008.
